Wesleyan Academy

The Wesleyan Academy

In November 2024, Wesleyan College submitted a letter of intent to the Bibb County School District, expressing interest in opening a charter school on the historic campus. This step was taken to align with the district’s timeline for a Fall 2026 opening. Over the past several months, Wesleyan has come together around this idea as we worked towards a comprehensive application. Through this work, we gained valuable insights into both the opportunities and challenges such an initiative would entail.

After careful evaluation, it has become clear that moving forward with a charter school at this time is not a financially viable option. As such, we will not be proceeding with an application at this stage.

That said, we remain committed to improving educational opportunities throughout Macon-Bibb, in particular exploring opportunities for choice in education. We will continue to assess the feasibility of this idea in the future and will provide updates should circumstances change.

Information for Community Members — Wesleyan College is committed to including community members in the application process. Feedback can be submitted to academy@wesleyancollege.edu.
