Nontraditional Admission Counselor
Wesleyan College is seeking a nontraditional admission counselor to serve on the admission and recruitment team. The person in this position plans and implements recruitment activities including travel, telephone contact, mail, email, individual meetings with prospective students, special events, and presentations to small groups. The counselor is responsible for working with students throughout the search, application, financial aid, and orientation process and seeks to find a good “match” between students and the College. Responsibilities also include application evaluations and participation in all admission events. This is a full-time, 12-month position.
The nontraditional admission counselor also completes all data entry and creates the admission file for applicants, in addition to all mailings. She also creates postcards to advertise events and produces a quarterly newsletter. Candidates must have superior communication, public relations, organizational and diplomacy skills (oral and written). Travel is a required component of this position, as is the ability to work evenings and weekends. The person must possess a valid driver’s license and a bachelor’s degree. Preferred candidates will have previous work experience in higher education, experience as a student volunteer tour guide/ambassador, and/or experience working in the admission office of a liberal arts college.
