Cross Country is one of Wesleyan’s newest varsity sport, dating its inception back to the fall of 2006.
Competing with the Pioneers means a lot of different things. It means building confidence and perseverance one stride at a time. It means a tight knit bunch of teammates who will be friends for life. It might also mean early mornings (most practices and meets occur while the rest of campus is just waking up!).
This team has a history of academic success, piling up Great South Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference honors. While the competition is important, the college also values the philosophy of Division III athletics: the impact of athletics on its participants, an emphasis on internal constituents, a high level of sportsmanship, encouraging participation, and the incorporation of athletics into the overall mission of the institution.
